New Delhi: The 15-year-old son of a doctor couple in Tamil Nadu, who allegedly performed a caesarian surgery, surrendered before a Trichy court on Wednesday.
Dhileepan Raj, who allegedly performed the delivery last month in an attempt to set a world record, will now be sent to a juvenile home.
Dhileepan's parents Dr Murugesan and Dr Gandhimathi, who are accused of letting the 15-year-old do a caesarean to gain a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest surgeon, have already been arrested and are in judicial custody.
They are charged with cheating, forgery of records, endangering human life, concealing evidence and abetting a crime.
Dr Murugesan, allegedly showed a CD of the operation to doctors of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and argued that his son had performed the surgery under his watchful eye.
He claimed his son had done this for the sake of a record but later he issued a statement saying that he had performed the operation while his son had watched out of curiosity.
