CHENNAI: July 19: Tamil Nadu Science City in association with the Equitas Microfinance India on Tuesday launched a one-day workshop on “Emerging Techniques for Successful Entrepreneur” for women of self help groups across the state. Close to 100 women from various self help groups participated in the programme inaugurated by CK Gariyali, Principal Secretary to the Governor of Tamil Nadu.“Large section of women in our society are illiterate unaware of their potential until they have some crisis to face,” said VK Subburaj, Vice Chairman of the Science City. He also mentioned, that once they meet a crisis, personal or social, they will find innovative ways to deal with it and emerge as a successful person in the society.Recalling a forward message on Bill Gates, which said, “I am not a university topper but many university toppers work under me.” He also said that it was not a prerequisite for a person to be an academic topper to shine in the business.SP Mathur, former Director General of Police said that the self help groups were one of the most promising sector of entrepreneurs as they never failed to pay back their loans on time. “The recovery rate of 99 per cent of the MFI sector shows your honesty which will reflect in your business,” he added.
