Centre for Biopolymer Science to be inaugurated

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers M K Alagiri and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will jointly inaugurate the Centre for Biopolymer Science and Technology (CBPST) on the old JNM Hospital campus at Eloor here on August 25.

Union Ministers K V Thomas, D Napoleon, state ministers P K Kunahalikutty, V K Ebrahim Kunju and K P Ramalingam MP will be present.  CBPST is a unit of Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers devoted to the growth of plastic industries.  CBPST, affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat), is conducting an Msc Biopolymer Science course. It is also planning to start an MTech course in Biopolymer Science next year, said K Palanivelu, deputy director, CBPST, at a press conference here on Wednesday. T O Varghese, manager and S Sugumar, chief manager, were also present at the press meet.
