Thiruvananthapuram: A young Malayalam actor and four women including two models and an assistant director was arrested for the use of cocaine. Actor Shine Tom Chacko and the girls were arrested from a flat in Cochin, along with 10 grams of cocaine.
They said they will conduct a thorough probe from all angles to find out more.
According to leading local daily 'Malayala Manorama' the flat is owned by business baron and King's Group owner Muhammed Nizam, who was detained by the police a couple of days ago in connection with attempt to murder a security guard of the flat by hitting him with the car that Nizam was driving.
Shine Tom Chacko had essayed the lead role in the film Ithihaasa, which was released in October last year. The four arrested women included assistant director Blessy, models, Tinsy and Reshma and Travel Mart owner in Dubai Sneha. The police are interrogating five arrested.
Police had stepped up strict vigil following information about rampant use of drugs in night parties in Kochi. The police also had information that drug abuse is spreading fast among those involved in films.
