London: UK based broadcaster Sky News television has stated that British singer Amy Winehouse has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
London's Metropolitan Police said on Friday that they have arrested a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of assault, but are refusing to name her.
British authorities do not usually name suspects until they have been charged.
A statement released earlier to AP Entertainment by her management company said: "Amy Winehouse will be voluntarily attending a London police station today by appointment with the police. We understand she will be questioned in connection to an alleged incident in Camden in the early hours of April 23, 2008."
British newspapers had reported that Winehouse allegedly attacked a 38-year-old man on a night out in Camden, North London, in the early hours of Wednesday morning (April 23).
Her questioning comes on the day that her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court, in east London, charged with assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
The prosecution successfully made an application to extend his time in custody to June 9. A provisional trial date has been set for June 2 at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
The singer has accrued an estimated wealth of £10 million. The 24-year-old soul diva ranks 10th in the top 100 richest people in music in Britain aged 30 and under.
