THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI state executive committee has decided to revamp its district leadership in Malappuram as part of its cleansing operation prompted by the Eranad poll fiasco. All office bearers, including district secretary V Unnikrishnan and the district executive committee, will be changed.The meeting of the party executive committee on Tuesday decided to approve the suggestion of the state secretariat that the Eranad debacle should be viewed seriously. The party state leadership found that the district leadership was against the official candidate of the party in Eranad. The district leaders had worked for P V Anwar, an independent, who came second pushing the LDF candidate to the fourth slot. The new team of leadership will be announced this week itself.The state executive also decided to set up an inquiry into the failure of the CPI candidate from Nedumangad constituency. Thiruvananthapuram district secretary P Ramachandran Nair was the candidate in Nedumangad and he later alleged in the party forum that ex-MLA Mangode Radhakrishnan didn't work sincerely for him.
