KALPETTA: CPM activists waved black flag at Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at Vythiri and Panamaram in Wayanad district, alleging delay in taking over the 14.44 acres of disputed land in the possession of Socialist Janata Party (Democratic) leader M V Shreyamskumar MLA at Krishnagiri even after getting directions from the High Court.It was Chandy’s first visit to the district after he became the chief minister, to inaugurate various schemes as part of the 100-day programme of the UDF government.Party workers took out a protest march at Vythiri on Friday morning, shouted slogans, waved black flag and tried to block the CM’s convoy. Later, the CM was shown black flags at Kalpetta by CPM activists led by CPM district secretary C K Saseendran.While the LDF observed ‘black day’ in the district, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for a ‘betrayal day’. A protest was also announced by Adivasi Kshema Samithi, the tribal outfit of the CPM, against the lethargy of the government in taking over the land.Later, the CM told reporters that the government had time till October 7 to comply with the High Court order and would take appropriate action on the issue. “The law will take its course,” he said. The minister said the government would take adequate measures to contain the disease.
