CRPF DG seeks report on Budhia Singh
CRPF Director General J K Sinha has sought a report into the Budhia Singh incident from its local unit in Bhubaneshwar.

New Delhi: Coming under attack from various human rights bodies for making four-and-a-half-year-old Budhia Singh run a tiring 65-km marathon, CRPF Director General J K Sinha has sought a report into the incident from the local unit in Bhubaneshwar.

"I was not aware of the incident. It was done at the local level. I have asked for a report on the incident," Sinha said.

The CRPF-sponsored record-breaking run on Tuesday created a controversy with human rights groups and medical experts coming out with all the ill-effects of such a marathon on the child prodigy.

Starting his run from the Sri Jagannath Temple at Puri, Singh reached Bhubaneshwar thereby making an entry into the Limca Book of Records by covering 65 kilometres in 7.02 hours.

Though he was supposed to complete a distance of 70 km, an exhausted Buddhia slumped about 5 km from his destination of the CRPF group centre there.

Though the wonder-kid has previously traversed the distance between Puri and Bhubaneswar several times, Tuesday's run was sponsored by the CRPF, which had expressed its intention to adopt the child and develop him into a long-distance runner for the force.
