The relatives of the man, who died owing to the alleged delay in getting  medical aid, staged a protest in front of a private hospital on Sunday.

According to the police, Thankachan, 44, native of Paravoor, was found dead in the toilet of the hospital on Sunday.

Thankachan was admitted for breathing trouble  at the private hospital in the city on Monday. The relatives of the deceased alleged that the doctors failed to give any medical assistance after being admitted to hospital.

Thankachan was brought to the hospital from a clinic in Parvoor where he was under treatment.

The police have registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the relatives and a probe is on.

However, the official spokesperson of the hospital denied the allegation and stated that the person was given due medical attention.

Thankachan, who was on ventilatory assistance, had demanded the nurse to stop the ventilator as he wanted to go to the toilet.

“Though the doctor had told him not to lock the door of the toilet, he disobeyed the suggestion. Later,

when his relatives found him missing for several hours, they broke into the toilet and found him dead.

He is suspected to have suffered a ‘silent’ cardiac arrest as the blood-sugar level was high,” he said.
