New Delhi: The police arrested one more person in connection with the attack on Dinakaran news daily office in Madurai last week. 'Attack Pandi', the main accused in the Dinakaran newspaper office attack case on May 9, surrendered before the Madurai rural police on Tuesday.
He would be taken to Judicial Magistrate court at Melur, police said. Three employees of the news daily were killed in the attack when the Tamil newspaper office was set ablaze, following protests against a survey published by it showing Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's elder son M K Azhagiri in a poor light.
The man arrested is a local muscleman 'attack' Pandian. He was allegedly seen with the Madurai mayor at the scene instigating rioters during the attack. So far over 60 people have been arrested in the case. The mayor and her husband and a former mayor were arrested before being released on bail.
The poll said 70 per cent of DMK cadres preferred Stalin to MK Azhagiri as DMK chief M Karunanidhi's successor. Upset at the poll, Azhagiri's supporters allegedly set the newspaper office on fire.
