VELLORE: Officials working against the AIADMK government would face serious consequences, warned Health Minister Dr V S Vijay, at a meeting of the Vellore East District AIADMK functionaries on Sunday.“Most government officials were appointed by the previous regime and they are clearly working against our government. We are giving them time to change.” “If they don’t, they will be cast out of their positions, no matter how high a post they hold,” he said.The meeting was primarily held to discuss strategies for the local body elections. Vijay exhorted the party men to work towards sweeping the local polls and completing a ‘glorious-double’ here.“We secured 90 per cent of the seats in the assembly election, yet over 80 per cent of the local body posts are held by the Opposite party who are working against the good governance we are practising,” said Vijay. The minister pointed out that the only constituency that the AIADMK lost in Vellore district was Katpadi, a stronghold of former law minister Durai Murugan. “We hear that officials are being non-compliant to carry out our schemes. So I will personally supervise work there, along with district secretary R Vilvanathan,” he firmly said.
