Fat free Basmati rice introduced

CHENNAI: Cholesterol, sugar and fat free Basmati rice has been launched by the Shri LalMahal group. The rice under the brand name, ‘Empire Basmati Rice’, which is first of its kind, would be available in all the retail stores. Price of one kilogram rice has been fixed at Rs 85. The rice is well processed and the starch content has been removed from it in order to facilitate digestion. With the removal of starch, the rice became cholesterol and fat free, claim the manufacturers. This rice is edible for diabetic patients too as it has minimal sugar content.After a long period of research, Shri LalMahal group has opened this very unique variety of rice into the market. The rice was tested in various laboratories and got certified as a good quality.Being a leading exporter of rice, the group already marketed this variety in Gulf countries and received positive response. Now, the Empire Basmati Rice is introduced in our country.“After cooking, length of grains would be more than 18mm in this variety of rice. If you compare the weight of 500 grains of this variety of rice with others, you would definitely find that this rice weigh 20 per cent more,” said Prem Garg, MD of the group.The group has been a recipient of the Largest Exporter of Rice Award from APEDA (Ministry of Commerce) for 15 years in a row and is exporting Basmati rice to several countries.
