BANGALORE: Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah criticised the state government for not taking remedial measures to tackle the severe drought prevailing in over 50 taluks in the state.Speaking to Express, Siddaramaiah said that the new government headed by D V Sadananda Gowda has failed to discuss the drought-like conditions in the 50 taluks, exacerbated by scanty rainfall, in the Cabinet meeting on Thursday. The government headed by Gowda is acting like a shadow of its predecessor and has failed to make its presence felt in the minds of people, he asserted, while demanding a relief package for these districts. “Many areas are reeling under drought despite most of the state recording normal rainfall. The government has not initiated repair works in roads across the state that were damaged due to rains.” On the decision to boycott the breakfast meeting called by the chief minister on Friday, he said, “The CM has not mentioned any subject that can be discussed on the occasion; hence we declined to participate in it.”
