Yuji Sanada and Hajime Nakamure, two delegates from Japan, are keeping their fingers crossed. This is their first visit to Kerala. They represent Japan External Trade Organisation, JETRO, which is under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Government of Japan.
Yuji Sanada is the director and Hajime Nakamure the deputy director of the company. “We are here to learn various business opportunities. Kerala abounds in potential and our prime aim is to introduce it to Japan especially in trade and infrastructure,” they said.
Similar is the case with other delegates with Delhi. Sangeetha and Priya who represents the Ministry of Science and Technology Development Board, Delhi, said they too are expecting a lot from Emerging Kerala. “We are more into providing grants to deserving enterprises. Hence we are here to tap the potential Kerala can offer,” they said.
Sangeetha said that they are concerned about the controversies which have engulfed the endeavour. “Controversies are part and parcel of any new initiative. We have taken them in our stride,” she said.
With delegates reaching Kochi from various parts of the globe, Kochi is all set to host the mammoth event.
Various help desks set up to help the delegates are functioning smoothly. Over 500 trained college students, called associates, have been roped in to see to the various needs of the delegates, primarily their registration.
Most of the delegates chose to do their registration not in person but through the associates assigned for it.
A 21-member special squad of associates has been constituted to escort the delegates. Around 2,500 delegates from 52 countries will participate in the event.
