HC notice to Vijayakant on poll victory

CHENNAI: The HC on Wednesday ordered notice to DMDK Leader Vijayakant on a plea challenging his victory in the polls from Rishivandhiyam constituency.Admitting a petition filed by Chennai-based Jayanthi, Justice K Venkataraman ordered notice on Vijayakant returnable in four weeks.The losing AIADMK candidate from Tirupattur, R S Raja Kannappan, also sought a direction to declare the election of DMK candidate K R Periakaruppan as void alleging that he won by corrupt practices. The court also sent notice to Periakaruppan returnable in four weeks.
