Kunika Lal is one actress who doesn’t run away from reality. She has acted in more than 80 Hindi films and was a prominent face in the popular television shows like Swabhimaan and Kittie Party. She was last seen in Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar (2006) and remained absentee from silver screen ever since.
In Bollywood, age is often a deciding factor for most of the actresses when it comes to playing prominent roles. However, Kunika explored the Bhojpuri industry by producing and directing a few films. When asked how she manages to work in both Hindi and Bhojpuri industry, she quipped, “Where am I doing any work in Hindi cinema? There are no roles coming my way. I don’t think I am Bipasha Basu anymore so the role of a heroine is not going to come my way. And I have accepted it gracefully.”
However, Kunika is not someone who would sit back doing nothing. The actress is open to doing character roles. “I am open to any kind of roles. But, I think at this age I can neither be a heroine nor can I be the hero or heroine’s mother. So may be I will have to wait to age. Till then I’ll enjoy working on Bhojpuri script,” she signs off.
