BANGALORE: With the mercury levels shooting sky, global travel site TripAdvisor has revealed some interesting insights from its annual summer travel survey. The trends reflect preferences of the growing community of Indian travellers who are adventurous, stylish and in line with their global counterparts. The survey has been conducted amongst 2,360 Indian travellers who shared their summer holiday plans. Discovering India tops the travellers list with 30 per cent looking at domestic holiday destinations this summer, followed by Europe and South East Asia as next favourite vacation spots. 28.54 per cent respondents want to explore India this summer rather than abroad and on an increased budget.The Indian traveller seems to be loosening the purse strings with 45 per cent of people travelling domestically this summer.The survey indicates that while 58 per cent people are looking forward to ditching their formal dressing, travellers also want a break from their regular routines of waking up early, exercising and checking out the news. Daily hygiene was chosen to be compromised with over 20 per cent looking forward to not shaving or taking a shower every day.Shopping emerges as first on the list of things to do on vacation for 70 per cent travellers, while 67 per cent want to indulge in adventure sports and 30 per cent plan to party away the holiday.
