BANGALORE: In connection with the case alleging cricketer Anil Kumble of forgery, a human rights activist has submitted a petition to the City Police Commissioner accusing the police of violating ‘Constitutional rights’ by not filing an FIR in connection with the case.In the petition, Anil Nayak, an activist, said, “It is most unfortunate to note that the Bharatinagar police have failed to register an FIR against Anil Kumble, and ultimately it reached the doorstep of the High Court. Should everyone approach the HC to make the police act? The action of the Bharatinagar police inspector violates Article 14 of the Constitution, which speaks of the equality of law. I shall be approaching the State Human Rights Commission.”Nayak said he was following the case from the beginning and had obtained all relevant documents through RTI queries. “Going by the records, it is very clear that the offence is cognisable in nature. But I wonder how the police did not file an FIR. Hence, I have filed the petition with the city’s top cop,” he added.
