TIRUNELVELI: Tirunelveli city crime branch has registered a case against a police inspector and three others in connection with a land grabbing incident. Police sources said that the complainant D Nirmala Thambu (60), whose house was situated in around 21 cents of land near Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, a prime location here, gave it on rent to a person, as she was staying in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the tenant allegedly refused to vacate the house and hence she approached Muthu, Inspector at the Government Hospital Police station, who reportedly advised her not to file a complaint as it could put her to inconvenience by moving to police station and court.“The inspector suggested her to issue a power document to one Chandrasekar, an advocate and his relative, and assured her that he will make the tenant vacate the house,” police said, adding that Muthu also promised her that he would cancel the power document once the tenant moved out of the house.Believing him, Nirmala Thambu issued the power document, following which the tenant was forced to vacate. The complainant now demanded the police officer to cancel the power document, which she had given earlier. However, the inspector along with Chandrasekar, David Paul of Kamatchi Nagar and Muthulakshmi of Alwarkurichi prepared bogus documents using the power document and allegedly sold the land with the house for Rs 5 crore. On coming to know that her land wasgrabbed, she filed a complaint with the Inspector General of Police P Kannappan and the complaint was forwarded to Tirunelveli city police commissioner V Varadharaju. Commissioner Varadharaju directed the Tirunelveli city crime branch inspectors Ponnarasu and Subbiah to investigate into the complaint. Tirunelveli city crime branch has registered a case against all the four accused persons and further investigations are on.
