Lawyers in western Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday went on a strike demanding the setting up of a separate High Court bench.
"Lawyers of Meerut, Bijnore, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, Gautam Budh Nagar district, Moradabad, Baghpat, JP Nagar, Bulandshahr and 20 other districts are on a strike," said Secretary of Central Action Committee, Mukesh Walia.
The strike was called by the Central Action Committee set up to press for the demand for a separate bench of High Court in western UP. He said the lawyers have submitted a letter in this regard to the President and the Prime Minister through the District Magistrate.
