Kathmandu (Nepal: Nepal's communist insurgents on Tuesday rejected King Gyanendra's call for a reinstatement of Parliament.
They said it was a conspiracy for the King to hold onto power and warning their opposition allies not to accept it.
The announcement came hours after Nepal's seven-party opposition alliance had welcomed the king's Monday night speech, and said they would seek to draw the Maoists into the political mainstream.
The Maoist statement, signed by rebel leader Prachanda and his deputy Baburam Bhattarai and emailed to journalists, vowed to press ahead with blockades that have sealed off major roads for weeks, and led to serious shortages of food and fuel in the capital.
They warned that any parties that agree to the king's plan would be betraying the Maoists, whose 10-year campaign to create a communist state has left more than 13,000 people dead and given them control over much of the countryside.
