GURUVAYUR: A mass recital of the Narayaneeya Sahasranamam will be held on the premises of the Sree Krishna temple here on Sunday, the last day of this year’s Vaisakha month. The recital will begin at 4.30 pm. The Guruvayur Devaswom is organising the recital of the Sahasranamam scripted by eminent Ayurveda doctor and philanthropist Ayyappan Karyatt.“The unique Narayaneeya Sahasranamam has been prepared in the same order as referred to in the slokas of the Narayaneeyam written by Sri Melpathur Narayana Bhattathirippad.Ayyappan Karyatt was guided in this effort by his guru and Chennai Sanskrit College former principal K V Seshadrinatha Sasthrikal,’’ Bhagavatha scholar Elankunnappuzha Damodara Sarma has said in his preface to the Narayaneeya Sahasranamam booklet which was distributed free among the devotees by the Akhila Bharatha Sathra Nirvahana Samiti as the Yagna Prasadam of the 27th Akhila Bharatha Sreemad Bhagavatha Sathram held at the Ernakulathappan Ground in Kochi from December 19 to 27, 2009. “The recital of Narayaneeya Sahasranamam once will give the effect of reciting the whole Srimad Bhagavatham,’’ Damodara Sarma has said in the preface while commending the yeoman service of Ayyappan Karyatt who is an ardent devotee of Lord Guruvayurappan.
