BANGALORE: Three young women from Bangalore ended their lives by drowning in Sharavathi backwaters in Kattinakai of Hosanagar taluk on Monday.The deceased were identified as Rosy, Radha, both aged 21 years and Shilpa (22). The friends trio, who were employees of Sai Garments in Laggere, resided at Lavakusha Nagar and Chowdeshwari Nagar. Radha, one among them, was married.According to sources, the girls checked into a lodge in Hosanagar on Saturday.On Sunday morning they got down at Karimane stop and went to Sharavathi backwaters. They tied themselves with their duppatta along with the bags they carried and moved into water.Empty bottles lying on the bank suggest that the trio might have consumed alcohol before getting into water, said the sources.“It is suspected that the three women left home on Friday and visited Hosanagar Church and offered prayers on Saturday. Before leaving the church, they reportedly spoke to the priest and donated all their valuables to the church. They also enquired the priest about the Sharavathi Lake. It is suspected they took the extreme step on Sunday,” the police explained.Radha’s suicide note states, “Dear mother, nobody is responsible for our death. We don’t want to live in this world any more. Please don’t be hurt with my suicide and do not inform it to anybody. Please collect my payment from the factory and repay all your loans. I am very sorry for ending my life.” It also mentions that they should be buried together at a place.When the trio did not return home from work, a missing case was filed in Rajagopalanagar police station on Friday evening by Shilpa’s father Govindappa, Rosy’s father Aarogyappa and Radha’s husband.Meanwhile, Shilpa’s brother had informed the police that she had broken up with her boyfriend two months ago and the police suspect that it could also be a reason for the suicide.Sub-Inspector of Rajagopalanagar police station Santhoshram inspected the spot, and investigations are on to know the exact reason for their suicide.Man commits suicideA 25-year-old man ended his life by hanging at his residence in Hanumanthanagar on Sunday. The deceased Mallesh, was a native of Chamrajanagar district. He was working as a cook at a hotel in Chamarajpet and had left the job recently.The police said he was addicted to alcohol. He reportedly had deserted his wife and was living with another woman. On Sunday evening, he hanged himself from the ceiling and ended his life, the police said.
