Koderma: The preliminary report by Jharkhand State Forensic Science Laboratory in the death case of Nirupama Pathak case claims that the young journalist was murdered.
The conclusion was arrived at because the fan, which Nirupama's family claims she used to hang herself, was found in perfect shape.
Moreover, the marks around her neck were not vertical as they should be in the case of a suicide.
Nirupama was found dead in her house in Koderma in Jharkhand on April 29. Her family had opposed her love affair with fellow journalist Priyabhanshu Ranjan.
On May 8, Koderma Chief Judicial Magistrate NK Agarwal remanded Nirupama's mother Sudha Pathak to judicial custody for 14 days till May 21. The court had on May 15 rejected her bail petition.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police Neyaz Ahmed said handwriting experts had sent their report on the suicide note which had been purportedly left behind by the 22-year-old journalist who died on April 29.
He, however, refused to divulge the contents of the report.
The police besides investigating into suspicions of honour killing have also filed a case of rape and abetment to suicide against Nirupama's boyfriend Priyabhanshu Ranjan on the direction of the local court.
