The high court has not granted a stay on water tariff hike but only directed the government to prepare a scheme for payment of government dues to the Water Board and submit compliance within two months, the HMWSSB clarified.
As such payment of water bills and arrears to the water board by customers is not affected, officials told Express. Reacting to news reports that the high court had stayed the water tariff hike imposed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) that had come into force from December 1, 2011 till the board collects dues from various government departments, the board said that no such order had been issued by the high court in the case related to the writ petition filed by the Forum for Good Governance.
