Nod to put up electric fences sought

UDHAGAMANDALAM: Members of Cherangode Panchayat near Gudalur on Friday decided to seek the District Collector’s permission to put up solar electric fences in the area to prevent wild elephants from straying into residential colonies.A unanimous resolution to this effect was adopted during a council meeting held on Thursday.A memorandum containing this and various other demands would be submitted to District Collector Archana Patnaik on January 24. Many other resolutions were adopted at the council meeting.
