New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to question some of the accused mentioned in the fresh FIRs in the National Rural Health Mission scam in Uttar Pradesh. The accused include several former government officials and heads of PSUs.

The accused who could be questioned include former director general (Family Welfare) RR Bharti, UP Processing & Construction Co-Operative Federation Ltd MD VK Chowdhry and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd MD Devendra Mohan.

The CBI will also take into consideration the CAG report on NRHM fund implementation in Uttar Pradesh which has pegged the irregularities to be around Rs 5000 crore while registering new cases in the scam.

Agency sources said the detailed analysis by country's auditor will be helpful in ascertaining further losses to the exchequer.

Based on the observations by Comptroller and Auditor General, the CBI will dig deep to probe whether any criminality was involved in the alleged irregularities, they said. However, it is not necessary that all observations by the auditor will be converted into CBI cases, they said.
