Kolkata: There is a subtle fun in jumping from one rooftop to another. It can be seen mostly in the northern parts of India, like Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. It is like a game for the children and the young adults.
Though it’s a very old practice, but now it’s time for a change. The real estate companies are actually making this possible by building such projects where one doesn’t have to jump in real.
This is all because of the scientific technique used in building up a ‘Rooftop Sky walk’ , that conjoins two to three adjacent buildings at a time.
We have seen many sky walks in our close proximity built for crossing roads. Though the Indians don’t bother using them; rather they would risk their life crossing roads. But if everybody has a sky walk over their rooftop, they would have preferred using it.
Now it is seen by many that such a construction has been made beside science city Kolkata, where two adjacent buildings have been joined by a sky walk. That can be called as a sky bridge. But rooftop sky walk is a different thing. So can we call it a new trend in the city?
Pincle Nandi, the Marketing Manager of Siddha Group of companies said, "We launched our first sky walk in November last year called ‘Galaxia’ which is the world's longest rooftop sky walk. It has 1.1 km Joggers Track. After getting tremendous appreciation from the buyers we thought to do more projects of sky walks. It has lots of features. Whatever facilities we usually get in the ground level and inside a club you will get all of them in sky walks too. Gym, Swimming pool, club all are there. It’s such a new invention for public. Our Managing Director Sanjay Jain and Principal Architect Jaiprakash Agarwal has conceptualised this. Mr. Jain always wants to bring innovation in work which is really working and we have got positive response from buyers in the past. We all know growth of real estate business in Kolkata is very slow, but we are trying our best and optimistic with the future."
Last year, the longest rooftop skywalk was inaugurated by the group, Siddha has already started working on their latest skywalk project called 'SKY'. This will be the ‘highest’ sky walk, constructed on the 31st floor.
The most important thing is that all the skywalk projects will be constructed within a budget of the middle class and higher middle class families of the city, with all the facilities. Now, almost every housing property has a Gym, Swimming Pool, Basket Ball Court, Tennis Court, etc.
