Telugu: The one script-writer from Telugu who is revered in certain Bollywood circles is, undoubtedly, Kona Venkat. Having written for Ready (Hindi), he has been much liked by Sallu bhai. Their admiration for each other is now well-known.
In the context of explaining why writers in South Indian cinema can script better mass, masala entertainers for big heroes, he told a national daily that writers here don't look at them as mere characters, but as larger than life figures. He sees Salman as the god of heroes. Take it for granted that No Entry2 and another film based on Parugu, also starring Salman, will be a Kona-style script.
He acknowledges the fact that Telugu films nowadays have stopped "to reflect the lives and aspirations of the people." The over 36 news channels show all the negativity in our lives today, and the films offer a way out. Escapism and humour of our films, feels Kona, is therapeutic. However, that today's Telugu films lack a social consciousness is something that he is very much awake to.
