The Cyberabad and Hyderabad police took security measures to prevent any untoward incident ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to the city on October 16.

Stating that the first phase of Conference of Parties (CoP-11) completed successfully, the Cyberabad and Hyderabad police officials said on Monday that elaborate security measures have been made for the second phase of the CoP-11, being held at the HICC.

Hyderabad police commissioner Anurag Sharma said a separate ‘CoP-11 special channel’ has been in operation for the last one week to facilitate seamless communication between Hyderabad and Cyberabad areas. Security arrangement has been made at the places of delegates’ stay in the form of static guards, watch constables, frisking and DFMD checking staff.

“Route bandobust is being provided by police for bus movements. The local police are adequately covering the delegates’ visits to sight-seeing places in the city. Mobile barricades, signage boards, cones, 200 UHF wireless communication sets have been purchased and being used by police for the conference,’’ he added.

Additional police commissioner (traffic) C V Anand said that around 300 delegates are staying in 20 hotels in the twin cities. The number is expected to increase as the conference proceeds, he added.

About 500 additional police personnel of different cadres from outside Hyderabad have been provided for CoP-11 bandobust. The two sets of new uniform for 3,000 city traffic police staff (including home guards) have been provided to give a neat and standard look.
