CHENNAI: Regardless of age, profession or status, people always seem to be immature about love. They are insane to risk the relationship for petty issues like not answering or returning phone calls. While it might look ridiculous from the outside, people involved claim they only do it in pursuit of the eternal love. The key message of the play, Love Bytes, was that all one has to do is understand the madness of love. The play was directed by Divya Palat, an award winning short film director, and was staged by Balancing Act Productions on Saturday. The play has been premiered in eight cities and the Chennai chapter marked the culmination of the tour.Presented at the Vivanta by Taj, the play revolves around three different couples, who are in different stages of life, but fall on the same line when it comes to love and relationships.Divya Palat and his real husband Aditya Hitkari forms the lead pair. Though they’re estranged as per the law in the play, they still keep in touch and help each other. The other pair, played by Arzeez Gandhi and Chaiti Narula, leads a live-in relationship. The last pair, Sanket Mahtre and Rashmi Mal, departs even before they taste love, and travel in different paths. While Divya Palate makes her husband hate her for verbal diarrhoea, it’s fidgetiness of Chaiti Narula that irks her boyfriend Arzeez Gandhi. While the female ares responsible for all that chaos, the male leads take it lightly and go on.There is another character, played by Gaurav Sharma, who always finds the ‘wrong’ girl suitable. The three pair come in contact occasionally without which it would have three different plays, mixed together. The witty dialogues were uttered with perfect gestures to the thunderous laughter of audience, and the songs between scenes kindled the interest about would happen next. After all, love is blind is what Divya Palat seems to say with Love Bytes.
