THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A statue of K Karunakaran will be erected in the city to commemorate the veteran leader and a stamp will also be released in his memory, said Ramesh Chennithala, chairman of the K Karunakaran Foundation.The press note released by the Foundation said that the decision was taken in a meeting attended by Foundation member Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Karunakaran memorial speech will be organised every year and a cash award of Rs 1 lakh will be instituted for the best people’s representative in the country.A museum, showcasing the contributions and activities of the leader, will be built at his resting place in Thrissur. All the activities will be supervised by the foundation.Foundation members M M Jacob, K Muraleedharan, P P Thankachan, Padmaja Venugopal, Benny Behannan, T Saratchandraprasad, T V Chandramohan, Ibrahimkutty Kallar also attended the meeting.
