The Telangana police has announced a discount on pending traffic challans from December 26 to January 10, 2024. The discounts are approved by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday.
E-challan means an electronic format of challan. When people are caught on surveillance cameras violating traffic, then e-challans are issued to them.
These concessions are available in anticipation of the Mega National Lok Adalat on December 30, 2023. The event will be held next week under the supervision of the Telangana High Court.
The discounts on traffic fines are categorized based on the type of vehicle. The following discounts are approved:
- For two-wheelers and autos, a discount of 80 percent is sanctioned.
- A 60 percent discount for challans on four-wheelers and heavy vehicles.
- For Road Transport Corporation (RTC) drivers will have to pay 10 percent of the total fine, while the remaining 90 percent will be waived off.
- Pushcarts and petty vendors have to pay 10 percent of the traffic challan, while the remaining 90 percent will be waived off.
HOW TO PAY TRAFFIC CHALLANS?
Step 1: Login to the Telangana traffic-integrated e-challan portal.
Step 2: Enter your vehicle details on the portal and the challans which are not yet paid will be displayed on the screen.
Step 3: Click on pay infront of the challan and you will be redirected to payment application where the required amount has to be paid.
Step 4: The total of pending traffic fines along with the discounted amount will be displayed on the screen depending on the vehicle.

Earlier this year, Karnataka government also announced a 50 percent discount on the payment of pending traffic fines. Soon after the announcement, the Bengaluru Traffic Police started getting the pending amount of fine through the digital payment platform Paytm.
Violators were able to access their pending fines through the Karnataka One Services portal.
