Two police constables were allegedly beaten by three youth with iron rods after being asked to furnish papers of the motorcycle they were riding in Loni area of the district.
The condition of one of the constables is stated to be serious after the last night's assault.
Constables Ram Subag and Lalit, posted at Indira Puri police post, were patrolling on a police-bike when they noticed three youths creating ruckus on road near Neelam Factory Road last night, police said.
The policemen asked the youth to stop and asked for the papers of their vehicle.
However, they fled on the bike. Later, they were chased and caught by the police constables at Jawahar Nagar Crossing.
The youth, who were in an inebriated condition, started beating Ram Subag and Lalit with iron rods.
One of the youths was arrested after more policemen reached the spot while the other two fled, police said.
"One of three accused, Vicky, was arrested but other two managed to escape from the spot. The others, Kuldeep and Sonu, will soon be arrested. All youths were in an inebriated state," said Gorakhnath, Station House Officer of Loni Police Station.
Ram Subag has suffered brain injuries and is being given medical treatment in Yashoda Hospital. His condition is serious.
