PUDUCHERRY: AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary and party legislator A Anbazhagan on Wednesday reiterated the need for a CBI investigation into the January 27 violence at Yanam, which resulted in the death of a trade union leader and a top official of the Regency Ceramics Limited. The AIADMK leader, citing the Kakinada RDO inquest report, which stated that there were external injuries on trade union leader Murali Mohan’s body, told reporters that only a thorough probe by the Central agency would bring out the truth.Charging that the report pointed to the fact that Murali Mohan was brutally assaulted and killed by the police while in custody, he said the government was yet to take any action against the police officials including the inspector who were still out and roaming freely. The secretary said political parties, including the AIADMK, had visited the Yanam region and urged the government to lodge murder cases against those responsible for the custodial death.Anbazhgan said any probe by the Puducherry police would enable the government to bury the truth and only a CBI probe would expose the truth.
