New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh chief secretary and the director general of police (DGP) met the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi on Friday and apprised him of the state's preparedness in the run-up to the verdict on the Ram Temple issue.
The temple town has turned into a fortress ahead of the crucial judgement on the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land with the Centre deploying more than 4000 paramilitary forces. The government is also said to have decided to deploy two helicopters as a standby as a part of the security arrangements. According to reports, 20 jails temporary jails have also been set up, while close to rapid reaction force (RRF) will be on vigil at 78 places.
Earlier on Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a late-night video conference with the state's top civil and police officials, divisional commissioners and district magistrates. The officials were instructed to take swift action on people who are spreading hatred and provocative messages of any kind. Political and religious leaders have also been advised to maintain peace and harmony around the time of the verdict.
Further orders have also been given for round-the-clock functioning of the control rooms established in various districts. In addition to this, it had been suggested police send patrol teams along with holding a meeting of peace committees. The DGP UP OP Singh had earlier stressed that strict action will be taken against those spreading hate in any form on social media platforms and, if needed, National Security Act (NSA) cases would be slapped on the culprits.
The task might prove to be a challenging one for the Ayodhya administration given that thousands are thronging the city for the 14 Kosi Parikrama and Panch Kosi Parikrama, which is slated to end on November 8.
The Karthik Purnima Snan will also take place here on November 11.
Leaves of administrative officers in Uttar Pradesh remain cancelled till November 30 as the judgement is expected to be pronounced by November 17, the retirement day of Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, who is heading the bench that concluded hearing the matter on October 16. The other members of the bench are justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and SA Nazeer.
