Internet portal Pokercricket.com, launched by the Australian leg-spinner, is being probed for Gambling Regulation.

Melbourne Cricket's perennial trouble-monger Shane Warne has hit the headlines for wrong reasons once again.

Test cricket's leading wicket-taker has under come under investigation for promoting a gaming website which authorities fear could be used by children for online gambling.

The internet portal Pokercricket.com, launched by the Australian leg-spinner in June, is being probed by the Victorian Commision for Gambling Regulation, according to media reports in Melbourne on Sunday.

Visitors who click on a 'play poker now' button are taken to a site where they can log in and gamble on poker and other casino games, it was reported.

The news has prompted anti-gambling lobbyists to accuse Warne, famous equally for frequently being caught up in sex scandals, using his celebrity status to "milk vulnerable people" for cash.

"Shane Warne should rethink his involvement," Victoria's Inter-church Gambling Taskforce chairman Mark Zirnsak was quoted as saying.

"It is questionable for someone to use their celebrity status to make money in this way. He shouldn't be looking at milking vulnerable people as a way of making money."
