London: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan credited the Indian community based in Britain for Bollywood's popularity and his own success.

The 48-year-old actor was in London with his 'Happy New Year' team, including co-stars Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan as well as director Farah Khan. "London has always been the pioneer in terms of the Diaspora taking our films to the level that they have achieved. We are stars because of all the people here in London and Britain who have appreciated and backed our films," Shah Rukh Khan told PTI during a press conference in London on Sunday.

"The kind of Diaspora mix that you get here is perhaps the most varied and big in numbers. Personally, this is my favourite city for many, many reasons," he said. Director Farah Khan added: "The first time I came to London was to take part in the World Dance Championships which was in 1986. That makes this movie even more special because it is about the World Dance Championships."

The entire team then went on to mark the conclusion of their worldwide concert tour, Slam! The Tour, at London's O2 Arena on Sunday evening.

The show included a medley of the King Khan's hits as well as extensive promotional clips of 'Happy New Year'. Earlier on Saturday, Khan added another award to his vast collection of accolades when he was presented the Global Diversity Award at the House of Commons.

"Not everything is achievement oriented. Some things are about giving. Now, I just want to give - happiness, entertainment and smiles. I am extremely thankful and humbled by the award, makes me want to work hard, makes me want to do bigger, makes me want to do better and just keep on giving a little more," he said in reference to his latest award.

'Happy New Year' will be in cinemas on Diwali Day, October 23, in the UK - a day before its India release.
