Mumbai: Giving bridal wear that resort destination flavour, Monaco Tourism presented Narendra Kumar’s exotic “The Monaco Diaries” collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.

Creating a great versatile wardrobe for the 21st century bride and groom, Narendra offered a complete wedding wear solution for all the festivities. Right from the Mehndi ceremony to the Sangeet, Cocktails, Saat Pheras and finally the grand reception; there was a wide choice for Him and Her.

Aimed at the global bridal couple whose wedding destinations could be anywhere around the world, Narendra matched the mood of the fashionable locales of Monaco, one of the favourite wedding venues.

The glamour of style icons like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly along with retro Hollywood touches appeared in the ultra chic line.

For women’s wear rich fabrics formed the base of the trousseau as velvet; silk, sheer organza, taffeta, light weight georgette with lots of lace was turned into glamorous creations. The colours moved from prominent coral and then onto pastels like lavender, mint, and darker hues like purple, midnight blue and burgundy, which will look amazing for a bridal beach soirée. The fusion creations were regal with light and minimal accents on cutwork, lace, crystals, hand/machine resham/cord work and appliqués to present an elegant sophisticated line.

Keeping the silhouettes for women’s wear to the mini balloon or bubble skirt with flaps and ornate glittering bodices for dresses; Narendra also favoured the peplum jackets or blouses teamed with pants or skirts. Cutwork played a major role on the blouses, trouser hems, gowns and dresses. Giving the ethnic wear a western influence, the long feminine kurtas with ruffles floated down the ramp on elegant models. Draped and rouched evening gowns were the final offering either as will-power slinky numbers or long sleeved ones with embroidered bodices.

Men’s wear reflected the feel of the Monaco mood as Narendra visualised cool comfortable suits, jacquard jackets and bundgalas in shades of beige, light orange, mint and deeper dark masculine tones. Constructed close to the body, the jackets sported two-button closures teamed with skinny ankle length trousers.

Prints played an important role for the bridal couple’s wardrobe and florals were the centre of attraction in varying sizes and patterns and appeared sporadically through the collection.

A resort destination wedding requires a perfect trousseau and Narendra Kumar ensured that his collection “The Monaco Diaries” presented by Monaco Tourism offered the ideal mélange for a happily ever after event.
