Actress Divya Dutta, in a series of tweets, has taken a potshot at media for labelling her as “a supporting actor,” a term she doesn’t like to be associated with. Divya on Tuesday posted a bunch of tweets, stating that she understands the fact that her well-wishers and admirers think she deserves better but she doesn’t like it when they brand her with a tag of supporting actor.
Divya tweeted, “Kuch journo dosto yun hain ki I understand u feel I deserve better, but pls don’t try branding me with a tag of supporting actor. Am not. I am an actor. A complete one at that where I play all sorts of roles . Even leads. U understand? U better understand.” (sic)
In another tweet, she called out the fact that the male actors who play all sorts of roles, aren’t called ‘supporting actors’ and are instead dubbed as ‘versatile’.
“It amuses me that male actors who do the same I.e play every kind of roles are not given this term . They are called versatile. but this tag is bestowed upon me because in ur opinion I deserved better. I appreciate . I am very happy doing t best roles in the business,” wrote Divya Dutta.
Divya will next be seen essaying the role of Rohini in the female-led action thriller film Dhaakad. Helmed by Razneesh Razy Ghai, Dhaakad is a female-led spy thriller and stars Kangana Ranaut.
