Vettaiyan Trailer: Rajinikanth is back in his highly awaited crime action-thriller Vettaiyan. He reunites with his Andha Kanoon co-star Amitabh Bachchan, directed by TJ Gnanavel. The trailer, released on Wednesday, puts the spotlight on an epic clash between the two stars. It opens with the police investigating the murder and rape of a woman. It cuts to huge crowd protesting for the arrest of the perpetrator. A woman’s voiceover says, “In this country, women have no safety; but scoundrels do." Rajinikanth’s character is chosen to face a brutal criminal who targets women. The trailer also introduces the star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan and Manju Warrier, giving hints about their characters.

After the police struggle to gather enough evidence to catch the suspect, they decide to plan an encounter. Rajinikanth steps in as the cop known for his skills in these situations. He says, “It’s not wrong for the police to take the law into their own hands when injustice occurs," defending the idea of extrajudicial actions.

Amitabh Bachchan’s character says, “Justice delayed is justice denied; justice hurried is justice buried," as he disagrees with encounter killings. Rana seems to play a wealthy businessman, while Fahadh takes on the role of a thief.

Vettaiyan, the TJ Gnanavel directorial featuring the two big megastars of Indian cinema – Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan- has been creating abuzz on social media ever since its announcement. Backed by Lyca Productions, the film is gearing up for a grand release on October 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada languages worldwide. On Tuesday, the makers took to X announcing the film has received a U/A Certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), meaning the film is unrestricted to the public but requires parental guidance for children under 12 years.

Vettaiyan marks the on-screen collaboration of Rajinikanth and Amitabh after 32 long years. The duo last appeared together in director Mukul Anand’s film Hum, with Govinda, Kimi Katkar, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher and Kader Khan in pivotal roles. Apart from that, the duo has also shared screen space in films like Andhaa Kanoon (1983) and Geraftaar (1985).

The film will release on October 10.
