Fans of the popular drama series Yeh Meri Family were treated with a sweet surprise recently. The makers of the Amazon miniTV show have dropped the new trailer for season 3. Due to the nostalgic 90’s element, Yeh Meri Family struck the right chords with the masses upon its release in 2018. After running successfully for two seasons, the show is back again to entertain viewers. The slice-of-life tale navigates the journey of the Awasthi family, who course through the ups and downs of lives by sticking together. Yeh Meri Family will start streaming on the OTT platform on April 4.
The feel-good trailer opens with the day-to-day life of the Awasthis, a middle-class household. Their youngest son Rishu introduces his family to the viewers. While Rishu and his elder sister are excited to play Holi, their mother vehemently opposes the decision. When the siblings break the rule and start splashing colours inside the house, their mother puts a ban on the celebration. The kids decide to celebrate anyway. Besides the light-hearted moments, the show also highlights issues like bullying, taking a stand against them, and a beautiful brother-sister bond.
The trailer especially appeals to millennials who enjoyed a simple childhood when they were young. The short glimpses of cassettes, DVDs, landline phones, playing carrom in the evening and the dilemma of striking the balance between study and play, and school and tuition almost instantly remind us of our past. The video also comes with a powerful dialogue: “Kabhi kabhi kya se zyada kuyn pe dhyaan dena chahiye (Sometimes, it is better to pay attention to the ‘why’ more than the ‘what’."
