Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which opened in theatres on September 7, has been a major box office hit. The film has now grossed more than Rs. 550 crore worldwide. The Atlee directorial boasts an ensemble cast and some stellar stunt sequences. Aaliyah Qureishi, who was cast as one of six female members of SRK’s team in the film, shared that she admired Vijay Sethupathi, who plays the antagonist in the film. Further, she revealed that the buzz around Jawan was so high that she was unable to get tickets for her own film.
During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Aaliyah Qureishi said that she was a die-hard fan of Vijay Sethupathi. She said, “I love Vijay, sir. I will fight to death anyone who says anything even slightly bad about him.” She added that the actor is a “Humble person” and “When you speak to him, you won’t feel like you are talking to a brilliant actor or star. He is just nice, calm, and on his own. He doesn’t have anything flashy.”
Speaking of Vijay Sethupathi’s dedication towards his work, Aaliyah Qureishi said, “Sometimes, he would have an acting coach with him on the set, just to bounce ideas off on how to do a scene slightly different or to find if there’s any inflexion he could change. So, he’s always trying to improve his craft even though he’s at the top.”
Jawan was lauded for bringing two big names from the Hindi and South Indian film industries together, Shah Rukh Khan and Vijay Sethupathi. Talking about her work experience with the two stars, Aaliyah exclaimed, “While Shah Rukh sir is all about charisma and style, Vijay is more about improvisation, where he would just say something funny out of the blue.”
Meanwhile, Aaliyah Qureishi shared an interesting anecdote during the interview. She stated that due to the high demand, ironically, she did not get tickets for her own film initially. Eventually, she had to request the production team for a few tickets so that she could take her family and friends. Aaliyah added that the six actresses who worked as Shah Rukh Khan’s team wanted to watch the movie together but could not due to unforeseen circumstances. Apart from Aaliyah, the others in the team were Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girja Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, and Lehar Khan.
According to Sacnilk, Jawan has collected about Rs 28.50 crore in India on its sixth day, raising its total income to Rs 347.58 crore, and is expected to soon join the Rs 600 crore club globally. The film also stars Nayanthara and has an extended cameo by Deepika Padukone.
