A Delhi man took to Reddit and shared how a thief tried to rob his house while everyone was asleep. Going by an anonymous name, the user shared how “unsafe” Delhi can be. This comes at the time of the G20 summit in the city when the security is at its peak. Taking to Reddit, the user shared that he was upstairs preparing for exams while his mother and sister were sleeping downstairs. “The main gate of our house is made of iron, with a net structure at the back to allow for ventilation. Around 1:00 AM, a man attempted to cut the wire from the lower part of the gate, trying to reach the lock to break in,” he explained.

Fortunately, his mother woke up and yelled at him, causing him to flee. The man further added, “When I woke up and saw the scene in the morning, I was filled with anger and a sense of helplessness. I couldn’t help but think about what might have happened if I had been downstairs or if we had caught the intruder.”
The man further shared an incident of 2021 when his bike was stolen from his own house. Even though they had captured the face of the thief, nothing could help them. The post, since being uploaded, has gone viral and people can be seen talking about how unsafe the capital city can be.

Many took to the comment section and shared similar stories. Not just from Delhi but people from all across the world shared similar experiences. Many also shared suggestions as to how such incidents can be stopped. “idk why people think that moving abroad can give them better security as if there are no rampant theft there or even a better police system. Anyway better cctvs and security alarms are a way to go!” commented a Reddit user. Another person wrote, “Saw a video yesterday about how thieves steal cars from Canada/US and ship them to Africa. The car in the above video also had owners papers.”
