Maya furious, asks EC to take action against Varun
She says it was a planned conspiracy to disturb law and order of the state.

Lucknow: Taking strong objection to the alleged "inflammatory" speech by BJP nominee from Pilibhit parliamentary constituency Varun Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday said that it was a part of the planned conspiracy to disturb the law and order of the state.

"The speech by Gandhi against the minorities is a planned conspiracy to spoil the law and order situation of the state and the Election Commission should take a stern view and initiate proper action in this connection," she said in a statement.

The BJP candidate has unsuccessfully tried to a vitiate the atmosphere but the state government is committed to maintaining communal harmony and would not tolerate any such attempts, she warned.

The BSP chief claimed that the alleged speeches by Gandhi have only indicated the sentiments and ideology of his party towards the Muslims and it has exposed the real face of BJP.

"Perturbed over the waning public support, BJP leaders are issuing irresponsible statements to divide the people on religious lines," she said, adding that she had last month itself warned that BJP and other communal parties would make an attempt to create communal tension before the Lok Sabha polls.

Political parties like the BJP, Congress and the Samajwadi Party had till now taken the minorities as just vote bank and had never been sympathetic to them, she added.
