Sometimes the people we trust the most with our lives could make big, unintentional mistakes, causing an unthinkable tragedy. One 6-year-old boy named Sebastian Nunney from the UK was diagnosed with an ear infection by the doctors, which later turned out to be a fatal disease, claiming his life. Hailing from Kettering, Northamptonshire, England, Sebastian’s parents – Greg and Lindsay – were able to raise more than 130,000 pounds for the treatment of their child in the US. They shared the heartbreaking news on social media that the child had succumbed to the illness, and passed away. They made the announcement on their social media, writing, “We are heartbroken to tell you that after three-and-a-half years of fighting neuroblastoma, our beautiful boy passed away this morning.” The duo informed further that he was pain free and peaceful at the end.

After months of complaining about an ear ache, Sebastian was diagnosed with cancer. During that time, his parents also observed the plummeting weight of their child. According to more reports, Lindsay was told earlier that it was a probable ear infection, when she took a then 3-year-old Sebastian to a general physician.

Lindsay, who took the help of IVF (In-Vitro Fertilisation) to get pregnant with Sebastian had stated previously, “He was clearly in pain and didn’t want to be examined.” She added, “It was at the peak of Covid-10, so the GP had full PPE on and I got the impression the doctor wanted us out of there as quickly as possible.”

She revealed that she had even shown the physician photographs of his sudden weight loss. But the doctor ended up diagnosing it as an ear infection, and even autism.

Then in July 2020, Sebastian was taken to a hospital, as his health had deteriorated further, making him weak with low oxygen levels. There he underwent an X-ray, which revealed a mass in his chest, and further tests confirmed that it was neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer which affected children and babies.

Sebestian then underwent surgeries and chemotherapy, which helped shrink the cancer greatly. So much so that the doctors called it a “miracle.” Last year, a cancerous growth was discovered in his leg, and tests showed that the disease was back.
