Clips of animal interactions on social media are often intriguing to watch. Among these clips, videos of wild animals hunting their prey are common. What would happen, however, if the prey finds their way out by escaping the clutches of the wild animal instead? One such video shows a baby kangaroo trying to save its life from a wild dog. A social media user uploaded a clip of this chase on Instagram on January 2. The clip shows a pack of kangaroos hopping at a top-notch speed. Among these kangaroos, there is a doe (female kangaroo) as well who is hopping at a similar speed. At first, users are not able to get an idea of what has happened that prompted the kangaroos to hop at such high speed. The video further shows that the baby kangaroo fell out of the mother’s pouch, while she was running. At this moment, there is a wide-angle shot that shows a wild dog attacking the kangaroos. The baby kangaroo, who fell out of her mother’s pouch, is on its own now. It leaves no stone unturned to escape from the dog and hops as fast as it can. The slow motion of this chase shows that the dog is almost about to catch the kangaroo and hunt it down. The joey (baby kangaroo), however, tries its level best to escape the grasp of the dog. Ultimately, the joey succeeds in saving its life by hopping an astonishingly long distance.

Social media users appreciated the clip and one of them commented,” That kangaroo baby is literally jumping on survival mode”. Another one questioned, “Is that a wild dog after its food ? The mother dropped the baby and didn’t give care ???” One of the users replied in the comments that the mother didn’t drop the baby willingly. As per the user, the baby just fell while the mother was escaping.
According to National Geographic, wild dogs can sprint after prey at speeds of up to 44 miles an hour. Kangaroos also have a similar running speed.
