Government jobs have a special appeal among many. In addition to a good pay scale, government jobs offer social status, job stability, health insurance, housing, and a plethora of other benefits. However, bagging an employment opportunity in the government sector takes a lot of preparation, hard work, and dedication. So, when a night watchman managed to land not one but two government jobs, it definitely called for a remarkable moment. According to reports, after passing the competitive exams, 31-year-old Golle Praveen Kumar from Telangana got an appointment letter for the position of teacher at the postgraduate level. He has also been selected for the Junior Lecturers (JL) in the final list.

Before acquiring two government jobs, Golle Praveen Kumar used to work as a night watchman at Osmania University, Hyderabad, reported Times Of India. His father is a mason worker while his mother is a beedi worker in the Mancherial district of Telangana. In an interaction with the outlet, the now government employee revealed that he agreed to do a watchman’s job despite holding qualified educational degrees like MCom, BEd, and MEd so that he was able to prepare for the competitive examinations by studying in the morning.

The man added that during his time as a watchman, he never felt like he was doing a job. All that mattered to him was getting the time to study, as government exams usually need a lot of time to prepare fully. “I never felt like I was doing a job. I had a room, access to books and material, and time to study. And that’s all that mattered,” he said, as reported by TOI. Golle Praveen Kumar continued that he had specially requested the authorities of the Educational MultiMedia Research Center at the Osmania University premises to work as a night watchman so that it would enable him to devote his morning hours to studying.

Thanks to Golle Praveen Kumar’s government appointments, he is now eligible to teach higher secondary students. Although he presently earns Rs 9,000 a month, these appointments stand as an opportunity for him to earn a hefty salary, anywhere from Rs 73,000 to Rs 83,000 per month. According to TOI, the man is looking forward to joining the Junior Lecturers (JL) job.
