US Woman Buys Petrol Worth Rs 22 Lakh For Free Using This Loophole

A 45-year-old woman residing in the US filled her gas tank with petrol worth Rs 22 lakh in one year without spending a single penny. Dawn Thompson capitalised on the glitch in the software of a petrol pump in Nebraska to procure petrol daily for her four-wheeler. This extraordinary feat which was achieved through a series of lucky encounters, has left the netizens astonished and intrigued.

After discovering the discrepancies in the records of the petrol pump, the owners started an investigation which unearthed the free petrol case of Dawn Thompson. According to the report of Top India News, 45-year-old Dawn Thompson used to utilise her loyalty cards to complete the payment for fuel refilling at a petrol pump in Nebraska daily. Little did she know that a software update at the petrol pump in 2022 would grant her free access to the petrol for a lifetime.

Due to a glitch in the updated software, the loyalty card owners got an opportunity to activate the demo mode by swiping their cards twice at the petrol pump. Consequently, all transactions processed during demo mode required no payment. After discovering this loophole, Dawn Thompson allegedly seized the opportunity intentionally and frequently started visiting the petrol pump to access the free petrol. She managed to refill her tank a staggering 510 times within a year, often visiting the petrol pump twice a day.

After a year, the discrepancies in the petrol pump’s financial records prompted the owners to start an investigation. After the inquiry, it was revealed that Dawn Thompson had acquired petrol worth $22,000, approximately Rs 22 lakh, without paying a single penny by capitalising through the loophole. Surveillance footage captured her refuelling at the station on numerous occasions, further corroborating the findings of the investigation.

The owners of the petrol pump alerted the authorities which led to the legal inquiry. According to news reports, police investigations uncovered evidence of Dawn Thompson utilizing the reward card 510 times between November 13, 2022, and June 1, 2023. Along with her, another individual has also been caught using a loyalty card for payment by activating the demo mode of the software. Despite facing legal troubles, Dawn Thompson has claimed that she is innocent and willing to pay the whole amount.
