A New York man urinated on a 25-year-old Asian woman in the subway during the weekend, the latest among the spate of racist attacks on Asians in the US. The Daily Mail reported that police is looking for the accused who carried out the hate crime against the Asian-American woman inside a Queen-bound F train.
At around 1.30 p.m. on Saturday, the 25-year-old victim was riding the northbound train when a masked man dressed in all black approached the bench where she was sitting and stood uncomfortably close to her.
“So I scooted to my right and noticed that his penis was pointed at me and that there was urine on my bag and jacket,” the woman told the blog AsianFeed. “We made eye contact but he didn’t say anything,” she added.
The heinous act occurred just one day after an elderly Sri Lankan man was punched in the face on the 1 train in Manhattan.
None of the passengers in the vicinity, according to the woman, said or did anything to defend her.
The woman managed to take a picture of her attacker, who she described as a white male in his 60s, as he was about to exit the train at the 75th Avenue station. The suspect was last seen wearing a black jacket with an American flag patch on his chest and a ski mask on his head that revealed a pair of grey bushy eyebrows.
The victim told the blog that she considered getting off the train and reporting the incident to the authorities right away, but she was ‘alone and scared,’ so she went on her way. The 25-year-old has since filed a harassment report. No arrests have been made as of yet.
Former US President Donald Trump had unequivocally blamed China for the coronavirus pandemic, after its alleged first cases were reported in Wuhan. The hateful rhetoric has spurred on crimes against Asians and Asian-Americans in the country.
